17 Things That Change Forever When You Life Abroad

A few years ago, I read this article “17 THINGS THAT CHANGE FOREVER WHEN YOU LIVE ABROAD” at masedimburgo.com. The first time I read it, I cried. I’m not afraid to admit it. Last night I was cleaning up some stuff on my laptop and I stumbled across the article again and I re-read it. It seems, that after eight years in China, the truths in Angie’s post are still just as relevant now as they were then. I didn’t cry this time, but the impact was still very strong. I especially love and agree with point #12 that says, as we live in a foreign country, we come measure time in tiny little moments that are not measured by days or weeks, but by places and people. #7 though, even more true, is the heart breaker for many. As an ex-pat living abroad, we know better any most, that most things and people in our life are just passing through. I don’t know how many times I’ve said goodbye to great friends and even family. Living abroad is not for everyone. It’s a difficult adventure, one that I feel is worth it, though it can be terribly hard.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this great post. Thanks Angie!
